springtime | new home renovations | love burt living

we have a new home! and so much to do! well, so much for ethan b to do!

today jack and i enjoyed playing and laughing all around our enormous back yard and i absolutely hope i never get over what a blessing living this life truly is. every bit of it is a miracle. we walked this property back in the fall and now it’s ours. like, we own it. it’s actually ours! i had tears in my eyes watching our boy run all over the yard. he chased a squirrel and giggled and tackled me into the grass. picked up sticks and planned our dream garden. i just walked and praised God all over my yard. thank you, thank you, Father. this is magnificent. this is such lavish gifting! such beautiful provision. what a plan You have for us!

we don’t live here yet and we are so so antsy to make this ours and to move in. jack was determined to help papa today so he packed his glue and called papa to ask if he needed any help with “geeewwing” today and of course, that’s precisely what ethan needed help with. so we were able to pack up and glue some shims together for the big kitchen renovations. swoon.

we thought we’d just do new flooring on the main level and then paint and move in but ethan b had other ideas once he got into the kitchen and realized that for all that we use a kitchen for, it was not going to be satisfactory for us. i love how thoughtful Ethan is and future minded. this kitchen is going to be the cottage kitchen of my dreams. the new floors are going to be ridiculously sweet, natural hickory. the guest room slash my office room has original hardwood floors so we’re keeping those, they are beautiful! i don’t love carpet but we are keeping some carpet in the other bedrooms. this may change in the future.

we’re all pretty excited about the upgrade from one to three bathrooms. i vow to not complain when cleaning. because one bathroom is not fun. three bathrooms is such a gift! it’s also big news around here that we have a laundry shoot. i am so excited to find toys in the laundry cart. what fun to have a playful boy around the house to entertain us! jack already got me good with a toy frog down the shoot which made me scream while giving a tour to friends. the boyish laughter is etched into my memory.

the yard is beyond dreamy. we’re planning a garden and i’d love to also grow beautiful flowers. we can’t wait to have room to host and be outside all of the time. we do have two beautiful fireplaces, too. which will be super cozy when we get into cold season again later in the year. i have so much house to design and paint to pick out. it’s such a gift! all of it. such a joy. there are such charming details in the home that we’re excited to enjoy and design around. the spring air mixed with fresh paint smell is something i’m really looking forward to!
